Applications

Q.  How do I begin the process of applying to the Education Finance Board?

A.  It is essential for the applicant to apply for a course initially and once accepted on this course, the applicant can apply to the Education Finance Board for funding by filling out an application form and sending in the necessary documents.

Q. If you are not sure which course you wish to follow:

A. The Education Finance Board will refer the former resident to a career guidance service in their area and they will be able to guide them as to what type of course they would like to do and where the particular course is available.

 Q. Why do we need original documentation?

A.  Original documentation is needed in order to protect the fund from possible fraud.

Q. Do I have to send in my documentation if the Board already holds it on file?

A. If the Board already holds the client’s documentation on file from previous applications, it is not necessary to send it in again.

Q. Do I have to pay myself to start and then apply to the Education Finance Board?

A.  It is not necessary to pay for the course before applying to the Education Finance Board but the client needs to be aware that there is a backlog and monies will not be paid out immediately upon receipt of an application. If the course has been paid for prior to making an application, the client needs to send in an original receipt for the amount paid with their application form.

Q. How long does the application take to be processed?

A. The application takes four to six weeks to be processed if all the necessary documentation has been included with the completed and signed application form.

Q. Is there a deadline for the current year?

Q. When does the funding year for the Education Finance Board begin and end?
